A short history about the author of this website......
I'm 61 years old(that makes me either a senior citizen or an old fart - take your pick!) - I was born in Washington,D.C. & am the oldest of 5 kids & so I have 2 brothers & 2 sisters(but none of them were crazy enough to go into the record business!) - I had lived around the D.C. area in Arlington,Va. & Silver Springs & Wheaton,Md. in my early years & then moved to Baltimore County & settled in Timonium,Sunnybrook,& Laurel,Md. from 1956 until May 1971 - that month I moved to Roanoke,Virginia & have been here ever since!
EDUCATION: Graduated from Dulaney Senior High School in Lutherville,Md. in June 1970 - went to the Broadcasting Insitute of Maryland in Baltimore,Md. from Sept. 1970 to May 1971 & graduated with a degree in broadcasting that month.
I have worked in radio for most of my adult life starting with my own little radio station(WSMV-FM) in Sunnybrook,Maryland from April 1968 to August,1969 - WBJC-FM at the Community College of Baltimore from August '69 to Sept. '70 - WBMD-FM in Catonsville, Md. from Nov. '70 to Feb. '71 - then went down to Roanoke to work at WLRJ-FM from May '71 to June '79 - WJLM-FM in nearby Salem from Jan. '80 to Nov. '87 - other stations I have worked at include WKWS in Rocky Mount,Va. from Oct. '73 to Jan. '74 - WVWR-FM at Virginia Western Community College here in Roanoke from Oct. '75 to Jan. '77 & WKBA in nearby Vinton from April '89 to Aug. '90 - so as you can see I was a radio announcer for many years before dealing in records!
HOBBIES & INTERESTS: I love to read,go to flea markets,auctions,yard & estate sales,listen to talk radio,raise gerbils(I have 3 of the little critters!),collect music autobiographies,& records!(my favorites are the various artists LP(sometimes referred to as "compilation LPs" or "copulation LPs" - take your pick!) - the reason I collect those LPs is because it's a cheap way to get a lot of music on one record - ocassionally I go bowling but hardly have time because I'm usually so busy cranking out record lists!
That's it in a nutshell - now that you know a little bit more about me - maybe you'll buy some more records(I hope!)
